Its incredible how many things seem to have gotten a big push at GamesCom 09. The new expo brought a lot of different publishers and developers to Germany, and of course they brought a lot of trailers and media goodness for us to eat up. For example, just look at the trailer above. This staggering nine minute trailer for
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker shows of some unbelievable handheld visuals and, in traditional
Metal Gear-style, raises more questions than a season finale episode of
Battlestar Galactica. What is that flying thing? How does cooperative infiltration actually work? What exactly is happening in those cardboard boxes? Does every clone of Snake have a derrière of steel that you could bounce a silver dollar off of?
I may still wish I was playing this in the comfort of my home on my PS2 and not my always under-charged PSP, but the concepts of gameplay shown here look like the title will be bringing some drastic more changes to a series that appears to be suffering from a bit of an identity crisis (let's not talk about Metal Gear Solid 4). Who am I kidding? I'm too much of a die hard fan to not pick this up. At least this time the changes look like it's for the better. Those still unconvinced or dying more will get another look with a new trailer debuting during the Tokyo Game Show next month.
See, this is why the PSP needs a straight up net connection jack. I should hope this also has a solo play option, as a lot of the latest PSP games are making me VERY seriously consider buying the new version when it comes out.
To Karrde:
While it is a good idea, having a net port into the PSP would kind of take away from the whole 'portable' idea of it, don't you think? :p
Plus the PSP would have to be nearly twice as wide as it is now, which would make it a tad bit awkward. Maybe one day they will release some sort of PSP accessory that can allow that, but practically everyone has wireless these days.
Thanks Kojima for making such homoerotic games: all the homophobes right now have to swallow metal gear gayness in silence!and to think that we still gonna have a game with Raiden!!!
