Video: The Genesis Champions Online

Oh Champions Online, why must you tease us so? With your promises of an open beta possibly this month, and your release of system specs, all letting me know I'm that much closer to playing a fantastic and fully-customizable MMO, but still can't get my hands on it. Well instead of looking to the future of when this game will launch, let us look to the past, and how this game began.

Turns out that Champions had its beginning, as you can see in the video above, at Ohio State University when two students in a history class met each other. One of the two had a game supplement in his bag that he had actually created. The two quickly became good friends and started writing supplements together as freelance writers. As time went by they started to form a an idea for taking Everquest and Ultima Online into the superheroes universe. A few years later, and a videogame studio later, they are now working on Champions Online.

Watch more of the video to see just exactly why they choose the Champions property to be a great fit for this universe, and how they made sure to stay true to the comic book feel of that universe.
