Be Benedict Arnold With WoW Faction Changes
Well they have been teasing with notion of the service for a while now, but it looks like today marks the day that Blizzard has official let you go Benedict Arnold in WoW by changing factions from Alliance to Horde or Horde to Alliance. Now before you get giddy about having you Night Elf Hunter joining the horde, you need to realize this service only let's you trade a current character for one of a similar race on the opposite faction. So you Night Elf Hunter will have to change to an Orc, Troll, Blood Elf or Tauren hunter.
This faction change service comes at a price too, namely $30m and also has a 60 day cooldown; however, with the new race you pick on the opposing faction side, you'll also been given the options to completely customize your character's appearance. The full details of the process as described as such:
Once your payment has processed and after you have remained logged out of the game for at least 30 minutes, you will see a new button to the left of the character's name upon next login. Clicking on this button will allow you to select the character's new faction and race, as well as customize the character's look and name. These steps will greatly resemble the character creation process.
Seems fairly simple overall, but it begs the question as to what'll happen to servers and faction balance once people start to defect sides to be with friends or maybe just to get shorter BG queue times? Only time will tell whether or not your personal Benedict will end up being on the British side, or the US of the WoW war, but luckily after 60 days you can just defect back if you don't like the results.
