Video: 'Gyromancer' Is A Joke
In a recent interview with Wired Jason Kapalka, PopCap co-founder, revealed that the upcoming Gyromancer game began as a joke in a meeting with Square Enix. When PopCap and Square Enix sat down for a meeting about a possible collaboration, Kapalka made an initial joke about combining their two most popular franchises, Bejeweled with Final Fantasy. Maybe the sarcasm was lost in translation, because Final Fantasy Tactics designer Yuichi Murasawa was immediately on board with the idea. Months later we have a trailer for the resulting collaboration, "Gyromancer", a combination of Bejeweled Twist with RPG elements. You may notice that this looks similar to Puzzle Quest, an existing Bejeweled/RPG-hybrid for the DS. PopCap says that they felt it would be "karmically neutral" to make a similar title, considering that they created Bejeweled, the game that Puzzle Quest itself was derived from. Regardless, it looks super addictive, and may be the first RPG I could get my boyfriend to play.

This looks pretty cool.. bejeweled is one of those things you can play for hours but has lost a lot of steam with age.
looks like this will bring new life into it. probably not for the same audience though. My mom love Bejeweled but i cant see her playing this.
Love the art direction in this game.
Hopefully Square makes an iPhone or DS version of this.
