Nintendo Channel Updates

nintendochannel.jpg

The little blue light on my Wii when I got home from work today made me wonder what got updated today. Turns out that it was the Nintendo Channel. Starting today, it re-launched with a whole new look and feel, as well as a few new features.

  • Now you can rate DS games as well as Wii games, and view other users' recommendations in the "Everyone's Recommendations" feature.
  • Videos can now be viewed in either "High" or "Normal" quality.
  • On each game details page, you can now bookmark your favorites to make it easier to find them later.
  • The "Records" feature allows you to view the Wii games you've played as well as the software you've recommended

In addition, Nintendo Channel will now be premiering Nintendo Week, a weekly series hosted by Gary and Alison about what's hot in the world of Nintendo. The first episode features an in-depth look at Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, an interview with the developers of the Wii version of Guitar Hero 5, coverage of the new Nintendo DSi colors, DSi Ware games and more. It's about ten minutes long, and mostly harmless.

The new look is a little busier, but I like the navigation bar across the bottom. It makes things a bit easier to get to. And the videos look good in high quality full-screen. I just don't like the way the boxes enlarge when the pointer moves over them. It's really distracting and can make it hard to click on what you actually want sometimes.
