TGS 09: Mega Man Battle Network: Operate Shooting Star - Trailer
Last week I had incorrectly assumed I was the only Mega Man Battle Network fan around here. It's nice to know I'm not! The Mega Man Network has linked to Capcom's TGS '09 trailer for the upcoming Mega Man Battle Network remake/reboot/crossover, posted on Famitsu's YouTube channel.
It looks great, and also shows a glimpse of a new multiplayer mode called "Star Colosseum" which seems similar to Mario 64 DS's manic capture the flag multiplayer--which is for some reason set in the real world. I'm also sad to report that there is likely no online mode for this game, as previously predicted. Though it'll feature wireless multiplayer and chip trading, so far there is no word on the presence of Nintendo WiFi Connection functionality, and evidence of its absence. Oh well, I'm still looking forward to it anyway! Hopefully if it does well they'll release a more fleshed out online port of Mega Man Battle Network 2, and they can get their act together by the time they re-release everyone's favorite, Mega Man Battle Network 3. I'm excited! Are you excited?

Awesome. GayGamer is my number one place for MMBN news since all the other sites don't seem to care about the series (Not that I could blame them after Star Force).
No, why would I be excited about yet another rehash? I mean, this port doesn't even make sense outside of cross promotion. Older Megaman games were easier to accept because each sequel was so short. Here, these RPGs take eighteen hours a pop! I mean, wouldn't everyone like the Megaman Legends series a hell of a lot less if there were a lot more sequels, like one to two every year? Have some standards and spend your ever decreasing amount of free time on something a little more imaginative and unique. I've been meaning to get around to that flawed, yet unique game "Mirror's Edge", myself. What about you?
Holy SHIT those games are boring!
Would it have been too hard to include the first three BN games into one remake so they could actually do some work and make the series feel more unified?
Seriously. This looks like a ROM hack.
Definitely shallow and pedantic, what we are seeing here. They can't be bothered to make one new Megaman Legends game for a dedicated game console after nearly a decade? I actually like those when I was younger and the unusually (for the time) great video game voice acting.
I was a little disappointed when I learned it was a port, but I guess I'm just a sucker because I'm still a little excited.
A new game would be great (Like most everyone here, I loved Legends, too) and it wouldn't have killed them to at least squeeze 1&2 together, I'm still probably going to buy it. Hopefully the new content will be worth it.
While I agree that Capcom needs to step up their game and put more quality into theri work, I'm still happy that the MMBN series is getting some more attention. It's one of my favorite Mega Man franchises, and the teaser of a Netto Giga Chip makes me giddy. :)
