What They Play Joins IGN

A lot of people laugh at me when I say this, but since its founding nearly two years ago, What They Play is one of the most innovative and useful sites related to video games. It might not get a lot of street cred with hardcore gamers, but the site that reviews games with kids and their parents in mind has done some great work in educating families on the content on all types of titles. Late yesterday, What They Play's President John Davision announced that the site will be added to IGN's "network of videogame media properties." Joining the ranks of GameSpy, FilePlanet, TeamXbox, Direct2Drive and numerous others, What They Play stands to gain even more exposure and do what they do best. Davision explains his own feeling on the site's announcement...
"This project has been a labor of love for us, and we are immensely proud to see the brand we created together two years ago become part of the IGN Entertainment network," said John Davison, President of What They Play. "As gaming continues to expand into new markets with next generation platforms, immersive online gaming experiences and ever more impressive iPhone titles, this will allow the site to reach even more parents and families in need of this information."
EGM/1up.com fans may be wondering if Davision, a staple on the 1up Yours podcast, will continue to appear on a "competitor's" show. Hopefully the charming and handsome Garnett Lee will be able to give listeners some information when he and his crew get back from the Tokyo Game Show.
