360 System Update Will Brick "Unauthorized" Devices

Nintendo likes to put the kibosh on modded Wiis with each system update, and now Microsoft is doing the same thing. Major Nelson has warned on his blog that when the new system update featuring Twitter, Facebook and whatnot is released, "one of the changes is that unauthorized memory units will no longer work with the 360." Basically, if you are using an unauthorized memory unit when your system updates, you'll no longer be able to access anything on it.
You can identify official licensed 360 storage devices through this link if you're concerned, but I don't think this is targeting third-party memory cards. If it has the Microsoft Xbox 360 branding on it, you should be good. That's how you can tell it's licensed, even if Microsoft didn't make it themselves. So I wouldn't worry too much. Heck, I didn't even know there were sketchy unauthorized memory units available! I learned early on with my PS1 that it's usually a good idea to stick with first party memory cards. Because otherwise, you're risking all those hours you put into that RPG! (Now, if Microsoft just didn't charge $150 to upgrade to a 120GB hard drive, I'd be thrilled...)
