Who says you have to have the legal right to marry in order to chow down on some companion cube wedding cake? Well not the two lesbian gamers who had a wedding ceremony this September in Australia with plenty of friends, gaming references, anime, and love involved. Their wedding cake is shown at the right, which incorporates their love for the game Portal as well as themselves being captured as characters from the anime Revolutionary Girl Utena.
A lot of the work of prepping for their wedding was through careful planning and a number of DIY projects. They tackled everything from Portal themed music, to creating their own centerpieces, hand-embellished corset, skirts, petticoat and detachable train. If you go to the article on Offbeat Bride you can even see a number of fantastic photos they took in their dresses, playing DS, and doing other geeky and romantic things. My favorite is a picture of their wedding bands laying loving on top of a white DS. Even the bridesmaids get in on the cute photo action.
Overall, I have to say that it's reassuring to see two people so in love that they aren't waiting to make sure the government recognizes what they already know they have with each other. It's even better to see to lesbian gamers geeking it up and letting their true colors show through, together.
