Lips Sequel Chaps My Hide
I've been enjoying Lips since it was released, even though it's nothing more than an elaborate karaoke machine. So I was looking forward to the release of the sequel as soon as I started seeing some of the songs that were going to be included. So imagine my surprise when I went into the shop and found out that Lips: Number One Hits is only available bundled with a microphone for $60. Why? It's a sequel. What about the people who already have Lips, which was bundled with two mics? The game only lets two people sing at a time, so why make me buy a third microphone?
Guitar Hero and Rock Band offer game-only versions of their sequels, because they know that some people are happy with their instruments and just want to pay for the game. Heck, even Dance Dance Revolution assumes you might already have a dance mat from an earlier version. Sure, they'll sometimes offer new and possibly improved instruments if you want them, but they're not forced upon you. And this microphone is exactly the same as the one in the first Lips. What am I supposed to do with a third one? This now makes five microphones I have in my home. Two wired, and three wireless. I'm only one man!
I would have much preferred a game-only SKU at a slightly lower price point, even if it was only $50. Although, to be fair, I didn't blink when I paid $60 for The Beatles Rock Band, and that was without any instruments. I know I'm going to play the heck out of Lips: Number One Hits, so it's not like I won't get my money's worth. I think I'm just annoyed that I've got another microphone taking up space in my already cluttered apartment. Anyone need an extra?

How do you like it? I have only got my sanging on with Singstar personally. But my 360 is calling me to pick up this game... I want it pretty bad though. So its just a matter of time. And do you know if they sell a copy of the game with 2 mics? what good is sanging if you cant sound terrible with friends lol.
I tried to like Lips, but the "gamey" elements of it felt more like a distraction than any type of fun. While Lips isn't terrible, I would suggest that anyone with the means give Singstar a chance before Lips (cheap expansion discs, camera support, great online community, and fantastic song library).
Wow, I reall thought they'd sell this game as a stand alone. I'll have 5 mics as well once I pick this game up, and I only need one :\ I probably wouldn't have even griped about paying $60 for the stand alone game. LOL. But I deffinitly don't need 5 mics for myself.
I'm still getting this game, just disapointed that I'll have even more gaming accessories.

Can only commented that in sweden you can pickup standalone game version och Lips:Number one hits. :-)
I bought a stand alone copy here in Canada.
I enjoyed the songs, although I would argue a couple of them don't seem like number one songs. (I'm hoping that maybe they'll do One Hit Wonders eventually)
Is anyone else a little annoyed by the lack of new achievements. The Avatar Awards are cool but I was hoping for a bunch of new/secret achievement titles.
