Watch Silent Hill (The Movie) On Hulu

Maybe it's not the greatest cinematic achievement, but compared to a few other game-to-movie translations, Silent Hill is practically a masterpiece. If you've never taken the time to check it out, folks in America (sorry, rest of the world) can now watch it streaming on Hulu for free, as they're added the movie to the site just in time for Halloween. Trick or treat!
In case you haven't already, you'll need to sign up for a free account with the service in order to prove that it won't warp your fragile young mind. The movie does a great job with the world created in the game visually, even if the plot and more subtle elements are kind of fumbled. I liked Laurie Holden as Cybil the lesbian cop though, and Alice Krige was as nutty as ever. But don't take my faint praise for it, Hulu user Cassie Bee raves:
i love this movie!! crazy stuff makes you think sometimes about whats really going on that we dont know about?!!?!?! happy halloween everyone!! *mwahs*
Crazy stuff makes you think sometimes, indeed.

It is good compared to most game movies, but it still could have been a much better movie if they hadn't flubbed and watered-down some parts of the plot (the town was ALREADY spooky and abandoned? So why are all the cult members still living there? Why make Dahlia a sympathetic character? Why replace "mother burned her daughter and kept her in agony to birth a heathen god, and it works" with the more boring and generic "townsfolk burn girl as witch.")
Also why no Harry Mason? Blasphemy I say!
Cybil was hot in that butch way though, and the visuals in the movie are spot on, so it's at least fun to watch. Even if Pyramid Head technically shouldn't be there.
"Crazy stuff makes you think sometimes, indeed."
I laughed out loud.
I loved the Silent Hill movie though. It was kickass.
I remember the first time I watched this movie ... when they got to the part where they threw Cybil on the grill, we were all yelling "HATE CRIME!!" lol
Awesome, I am so watching this tonight. Thanks for the heads up! :)
LOL I used video editing software to remove the bad dialogue and unnecessary characters (ahem... husband...) My version of SH is actually fairly decent.
If you can get your head out of the "wahh wahh its not exactly like SH1" zone, then its actually a very solid movie compared to most horror film offerings of late.
haha, i totally thought of cybils beat down as gay bashing, it made me sad then she wasnt dead, even though it sounded like they smashed her skull in. i too loved the movie, i especially liked the part where rose was running down the alley and the camera angle changed like it the game with harry right before the demon babies came out.
