Nintendo Can't Stop Breaking Records

'Tis the season... for holiday shopping, that is, and wouldn't you know that Nintendo is already touting its impressive sales figures for everyone to ooh and ahh over. The company's internal tracking numbers have recorded sales of over 1.5 million Wii, Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi systems combined in the US over the Thanksgiving week. Over 550,000 of those systems were Wiis, and over 1 million of them were DS or DSi handhelds, surpassing the all-time handheld hardware sales record set by the Game Boy Advance during Thanksgiving week of 2002.
By Thanksgiving week, Nintendo is referencing sales from Sunday, November 22 to Saturday, November 28, and what's really insane is that the sales work out to more than 150 Nintendo systems sold every minute continuously for the week. Or more than 2.5 every second. Just imagine those poor, harried sales clerks! So glad I don't work retail... especially at this time of the year!
