NSMBW Already Has TWO Level Editors
Super Mario Bros. level editors are nothing new, but NEW Super Mario Bros. Wii level editors are. Even though the game has been out internationally for only about two weeks there are already two competing level editors.
Pictured is "Reggie!" a WYSIWYG level editor that's not yet 'released to the public' but was used to make this remake of World 1-1 from the original Super Mario Bros. game for NES. Reggie is not yet release but you can find out more about it at this forum thread. The other level editor, called Tanooki, is available here and demonstrated in this video. Tanooki, unlike Reggie, does not visualize the level as you edit it and involves poking hex values into certain X/Y coordinates on the map, which may be confusing to most people.
But don't get too excited. These hacks only work on Wii emulators which most of us don't have access to and are probably illegal. I guess all that this really means for us is that we can look forward to fancier looking Mario hack YouTube videos. The future is here!
