Those Gem-Swapping Orcs Return: D3Publisher Announces Puzzle Quest 2

DSPublisher has announced that Puzzle Quest II will be hitting Xbox 360's Live Arcade and the NIntendo DS this Spring, 2010. After heading into space for the spin-off Galactrix, it looks like D3Publisher is heading back to the fantasy realm for the official sequel to the original monster hit. Although the first game managed to sneak onto just about every platform, currently only XBLA and DS are confirmed. From the press release:
Puzzle Quest 2 features its hallmark blend of match-3 gem matching and fantasy, with a simple but meaningful role playing experience where players can choose any of four character classes; War Mage, Inquisitor, Barbarian or Assassin. Each character class provides interesting twists during multiple play-throughs as players reclaim the once peaceful village of Verloren from the evil clutch of the demon Gorgon. Players will be able to level up each character to progress through the adventure in Story Mode or even dive into Instant Action, Tournament Mode, or Multiplayer Mode for a rich and diverse experience. With the entire Puzzle Quest world accessible on your fingertips in real-time action, players will be able to get a more streamlined experience for instant gratification.
Puzzle Quest is a formula that's hard to mess with, so I'm glad to see they haven't touched much for this new game in the series. My only complaint is that all the classes sound kind of deliberately bad-ass or hard-core. I mean, I get that the fantasy world is a rough place, but why does everyone have to sound so violent and angry?
