A Look Back At The Worst Box Art Of 2009
While we're celebrating the best that this year had to offer, GamesRadar is celebrating something a little different: the year's worst box art. If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, box art has to be even more subjective. How do you sum up (hopefully) hours of entrainment with one single still image? The graphic designers of employed by publishers don't have any easy job, but that doesn't account for some less than stellar artwork and the clear abuse of Photoshop seen in their list. Naturally, the pet sim genre is an easy target, especially when things like Petz: My Monkey Family exist. However, the article explains the UK's special cover for Left 4 Dead 2, introduces readers to one of the creepiest astrologers on the face of the planet, and tells of the even more bizarre origins of Major League Baseball 2k9: Fantasy All-Stars. But I didn't think that all their picks deserved to be there. I'm not exactly sure why they bag on the cover for Just Dance as it actually looks pretty nice in person and the uber-dark and intentionally old school minimalism of The Dark Spire. Both do a good job representing both games well, but maybe that's just my personal taste.

Side note: Since I mention it in this article, I figure I should take a moment to pimp The Dark Spire a little bit. It's actually a really fascinatingly frustrating rogue-like and just recently got marked down to $5 at GameStop. Quite frankly, it's harder than Demon's Souls and will make you cry. Totally worth checking out if you like the genre! Just sayin'...

HAHA Yeah, I saw the 'Water Sports' game when it came into the shop I couldnt stop LAUGHING! im sure the 'Fisting fighting' game will be next!
With the link back to the 2008 article, within the 09 article, I'm glad for the most part that they skipped the the fellatio jokes, cos you know - sucking dick is so gay and what a witty dig to make within the gamer community
