Games For Windows LIVE Launches Games On Demand

Microsoft has launched Games on Demand for their Games for Windows LIVE PC platform, adding a slew of full games through the service: Kane and Lynch: Dead Men, Resident Evil 5, Fallout 3, et cetera. While the lineup is in its infancy, this does have the benefit of being associated with one's Xbox LIVE Gamertag (if you do not have a previous Gamertag, you will have to create one), so that any achievements unlocked or points bought can be used on either platform (I have used it to purchase points for my Fallout 3 DLC, alongside tracking those achievements).
As of right now, it also has part of its lineup 50% off, though Viva PiƱata and Shadowrun may not have you running to punch in your monetary card information. Among the first things I noticed is being able to purchase the games in dollar amounts, rather than going through the middle-transaction hump of Microsoft Points. If you have Microsoft Points and wish to use them, however, they are still available to use on checkout.
Also, downloading the client now nets you a free copy of Fuel Game's Tinker:
He's little, he's metal, and he's lost.Being a small robot isn't always easy. Being a small robot marooned in a surreal world of clockwork, inventive mechanisms and challenging puzzles, even less so. In Tinker, a free puzzle game that pushes the boundaries of robot deduction, you'll guide your robot through switches, contraptions to reach the exit. He'll only do what you command. He'll only go where you tell him to. It's up to you to get him home!
Whether or not this can become a viable competitor with the other digital distributors remains to be seen, though it will likely have to make stronger pushes forward to impact Steam's share of that market.

Too bad there is only a handful of games available. (At least in the Norwegian edition.)
The interface isn't very good when compared to Impulse.
