Update: More Fallout MMO Art Emerges, Court Drama Still Underway

A few months ago, we brought you a squeeze of the juicy drama between the original masters of the Fallout universe, Interplay, and the series' new overlord, Bethesda. For a quick recap: Interplay started selling three of their original games, Fallouts 1+2 and Tactics, about the same time Bethesda's Fallout 3 was gaining popularity in the public eye, which Bethesda saw as trying to muscle in on their mindshare. There was also a small matter about Interplay having nothing to show for the alphabetically mysterious Project V13, more commonly known as the Fallout MMO.

Well, more good news is coming out of the radioactive pipeline for those fans who want more post-apocalyptic goodness: the federal court handling the case has blocked Bethesda's request for an injunction that would stop the Trilogy pack from being sold and V13 from being worked on until the case is actually decided.

This is definitely the first battle in a long and arduous legal war between two companies that were playing so nicely together just a year ago. In fact, it'll be hard to tell by the end whether either company wants to work with the other in order to make Fallout as a brand and a universe come together cohesively - which is a shame, considering the work and care put into the whole history of the Vaults and the creatures inhabiting the North American Wasteland.

Still, there is some side benefit to Fallout's two daddies bickering: court documents! Featuring concept art! Yep: it seems when Interplay's busy proving to the court that they haven't pulled a vaporware trick on their assigned MMO project, they leave a very pretty paper trail for fans and speculators. Since Fallout fan kingdom No Mutants Allowed got hold of the clean images, we'll send you there to see all of them, but click below for a taste of what Interplay is able to do with its early concepts and engine!

Oh how I love fallout. I have been playing the game since I was 7 and loved Fallout 3 (even if it did take a different tangent from the originals). I just hope that someday and MMO will happen...
