Playstation 3 Firmware 3.15 Live

A new firmware update to the PS3 has been trickling along the intertubes and is now fully live. Firmware 3.15 includes two new features: a data migration tool and the ability to play "minis" on the PS3.
The data migration tool is intended for people who have more than one PS3 in their household and want to transfer saved games, PSN downloads and videos from one machine to another. It's not a sync as the blog entry explicitly states that stuff like PSN games will be migrated to the new machine and deleted from the first one, but if you're switching to another machine and for whatever reason happen to have the old one still at home, I suppose this could be a useful utility to have.
The "minis" addon, however, is more interesting. "Minis" were originally PSN downloads introduced with the PSPGo-- they're like iPhone apps, little games that you can purchase and sync to your handheld console. While full implementation won't happen until December 17th, when it comes you'll be able to play your "minis" downloads on your handheld PSP as well as on your big screen TV. It doesn't look like it will be a 1:1 ratio as titles have to be specifically released for the PS3, but people who've purchased "minis" on their PSP already will be able to download them onto their larger console if the title becomes available for PS3s.
To download the update just select System Update under the Settings option on the PS3 XMB.
