Video: FF13's Announcement Through The Eyes Of Mega64
I admit that I may be a tad harsh on all things Final Fantasy, but let's not pretend that SquareEnix don't give detractors more than enough material to have a good laugh at them. Remember this past E3 when they announced Final Fantasy 14 Online while there was no release in sight for Final Fantasy 13? I'm sure that for those heavily invested in the series this sounded perfectly sane, but for the rest of us it was downright silly.
Or how about their video announcement of the release date for FF13? When a friend of mine linked me to it, they told me that even if I hated the series I had to see the video if only to see how smug the whole thing was. Apparently I wasn't the only one that thought that the video was more than a little ridiculous as the Sexy64 boys over at Mega64 choose to lampoon the audacious nature of the announcement with this brilliant sketch. Is it me or was my mind just basically blown after watching this video?
Sidenote: Secret of Evermore did not suck.

Haha.
Well done.
That was hilarious. I'm excited for FFXIII, but that announcement video was just painful to watch. This was an excellent mock!
Agreed. Secret of Evermore did not suck!
This is what I was thinking when I watched the original video and I think this spoof is pretty spot on.
'Ugh, what a smug douche. The whole thing came off as gold covered crap, it is pretty but it's still a lump of crap. Did anyone else notice a few things?
A) they never really touched upon the story, it is like they were hiding it and that they were trying to compensate their crap story with 'magnificent visuals' if I want to buy something just for the 'visuals' then I would buy/rent a movie yeah?
B) Has anyone else heard about this Leona Lewis person? Because I haven't.
C) Did anyone kinda go 'meh' or cringe at the names? Snow, Hope, Vanille and Lightning? Really? What's the next character's name? Fire? Oh oh I know!... It's Rock :P It seems after around FF9 the series slowly drifted towards mediocrity and personally.. this game kinda sums it up 'pretty but with a crappy story' just like FFX-2 and that god awful MMO.'
Leona Lewis is huge in the UK, and I'm pretty sure she did well in the rest of Europe and she had a huge hit with 'Bleeding Love' in the US.
Heard it? Well that's her.
Oh and she's sung the main song for the 'Avatar' movie as well.
Knowing that her song is on it has made me want the game more.
Call me crazy, but I prefer to hear the original music.
No Japanese voices? Okay, fine. But if they even go so far as to replace the songs, I get majorly annoyed.
What? Are Japanese songs too alienating for Western audiances? You know, the ones playing the Japanese game.
FF11 is actually an amazing game.
It has some of the most interesting and well written plot lines I've ever seen in a game.
The thing that it suffers from is that you really have to grind levels to god in order to experience the stories.
That aside, I've made a great deal of friends, gay & straight/supportive, through the game. Being able to share those experiences with others has been fantastic.
When Square announced FF14 I took it more aimed at players of 11 who might not be as interested in 13, but really ready for another MMO. *shrugs*
I'll be playing both 13 and 14 and am quite excited for both. :)
Just play what makes you happy, right?
Hey, he's cute ^^
Well with the music why not get Utada Hikaru?
She did the music for Kingdom Hearts and the first rebuild of the new Evangelion movies. She is a Tetris nut and under the name Utada is releasing English language tracks in the US.
Just thought that would have been a more obvious choice?
Oh did I mention he was cute? ^^ lol
Very funny video, and the guy's kinda cute! :)
