Video: Mega Man Doom 2 Mod
Those of us who are in love with the aesthetics of 8 bit games have had a handful of treats lately with games like Jump!, Bit Boy!!, and 3D Dot Game Hero, but a lot of these titles have a somewhat generic look compared to the visual perfection of the Nintendo and Capcom made games of the 8 bit era.
Luckily, we'll finally get to see what a 3D 8 bit Mega Man game would look like, thanks to Doom 2 modder named Cutmanmike. He's been designing a Doom 2 death match level and weapon for all 8 of the original Mega Man games, and may also do levels and weapons from the pseudo-8 bit Mega Man 9. You here's a video of an early build of his Gutsman level:
Pretty slick! I love the way the explosions radiate outward into the 3D map. Other videos show weapons like Leaf Shield, Lead Bubble and Shadow Blade in action, functioning very similar to their 2D counterparts. You can see more videos over at The Mega Man Network.
