Explore The Cerberus Network

BioWare revealed today that the hotly-anticipated Mass Effect 2 will contain The Cerberus Network, an in-game portal that will allow gamers to access downloadable content and news. The Cerberus Network will be activated by entering a single-use unlock code that will be included in the retail and digital versions of the game worldwide. For players who purchase a used copy of the game, EA will allow you to purchase your own activation code separately.
"The Cerberus Network augments and extends the rich universe of Mass Effect 2," said Dr. Ray Muzyka, co-founder, BioWare and Group General Manager of the RPG/MMO Group of EA. "We're thrilled to be able to reward loyal BioWare and Mass Effect fans with ongoing, high quality content and provide a direct channel for our players to dive deeper into the intriguing lore of Mass Effect."
At launch, The Cerberus Network will receive the first DLC pack that contains new missions and in-game items, including Zaeed, a "rugged and deadly gun-for-hire who is recruited to join Commander Shepard's mission to save mankind." After launch, BioWare will release more DLC including a new vehicle, a hover tank called the Hammerhead. (Anyone who's struggled to get the Mako out of a ravine will be happy to hear that!) There's also other new items coming such as armor and weapons, and I have to admit that the "M-22 Eviscerator Shotgun" sounds a little bit awesome.
An in-game DLC/news portal may not seem like such a big deal, but I have to say I would've appreciated it last night. After checking my old save files to confirm that I had one where I could access the Normandy's navigation computer without heading straight into the endgame, I had to quit out of the game to go back to the Xbox 360 dashboard to download the Bring Down The Sky DLC, then start the game back up again to play it. So it may not be as worthless as it seems...

Funny... now we're supposed to pay money for being able to spend more money on DLC ^^
Now if this mysterious "Cerberus Network" delivers future DLC for free, I would actually like the idea.

Actually it sounds to me like the Cerberus Network is free, that it's basically just a way to give players access to DLC in game, so that you don't have to exit the game to get additional content.
Oh yes, and one last thing. That picture is fucking HOT. I SO want to do that guy.
