Fan-Made Mega Man Movie

Ever wondered what a low-budget version of your favorite blue bomber might look like? Well apparently filmmaker Eddie Lebron decided that he was willing to try out his hand at making a movie of everyone's favorite cannon-armed hero, and I have to admit that for a fan-made movie, Mega Man looks pretty sweet.
A sneak peak of the movie was originally shown at MagFest in 2008, and since then the team has been hard at work to create the film. It looks like the wrapped up most of the filming last year and have been working on some of the CGI scenes and other bits. They had originally hoped for the movie to launch in 2009, but currently it looks like Spring 2010 will be the launch window. This year at MagFest, they actually showed one of the final edits of the film which is clocking in at 107 minutes, so expect a full-feature movie when it finally premieres.
Since the project was partially a labor of love for the team, as well as the fans that support them, it seems as though they want to do a premiere event at some movie theaters for the fans, so that they can get the full theater experience for what they have created. The team has also promised that two weeks after the premiere the movie will be available online for free to all of those that want to watch it from the comfort of their home.
I have to say that it is great to see this kind of time and effort go into a labor of fan love, especially when currently we mainly see the bastardization of videogames by Hollywood, or just watch our favorite games slowly fall by the wayside from bloated budgets and time frames that are far too common for blockbuster film franchises. The premiere is at least three months away for this film, but we promise to have the news of its release when they announce it. Hit the jump for a look at a small sneak peak of the movie.
