Lips: Party Classics Dated

Okay, so it turns out that the list of January DLC for Lips I passed on to you guys yesterday was accurate after all. The other bit of information I couldn't confirm though, was the launch date for the next game in the series, Lips: Party Classics. Well, now that Microsoft has put out a proper press release, I can confirm that the game will be released on February 26. On the plus side, Party Classics will for the first time be compatible with USB microphones like the ones you probably already have from Rock Band and/or any other singing games. This hopefully means that this sequel will be released in a cheaper, game-only package as opposed to Number One Hits, which I already complained about. And since using the motion control Lips mics as rhythm instruments is integral to the gameplay, I would assume that they're going to simply make that part optional since regular USB mics won't be able to do that. On the negative front, I still wish that the Lips franchise would get a little more specific like SingStar, focusing add-on discs on a particular band or genre. And I expect this sequel to be like the last one and force disc swapping to sing the earlier songs that aren't DLC. If they could work that out, and let you copy the songs onto the hard drive like Rock Band did, it would be perfect. Of course, it means I'd have to finally cave and buy a larger hard drive for my 360, but wouldn't Microsoft just love that? Oh, and if they're really looking to make the series better with each installment, they might also want to look into fixing all the damn slowdown. They haven't released a full set list yet, but as soon as they do, I'll let you know!

Thanks for the heads up!
