PopCap Loses $4.6 Million Suit To MumboJumbo

Bad news for uber casual games developer PopCap, maker of such addictive titles as Plants vs. Zombies and Bejeweled, who yesterday lost a $4.6 million dollar lawsuit to MumboJumbo after a 2006 retail distribution deal fell apart between the two.
In its complaint, the lawyers for MumboJumbo claimed that PopCap committed fraud and tortious interference and damaged the relationship between MumboJumbo and a "key retailer."
In a statement to Gamasutra, PopCap defended themselves and said they intend to appeal the judgement:
"PopCap continues to believe that it did nothing wrong in this case, and will vigorously pursue its claims and defend itself through the appeals process," said PopCap's Garth Chouteau, VP of public relations at PopCap.
$4.6 million sounds like a massive amount but it's likely just a drop in the bucket for PopCap with all their sales of bogglingly addicting games. When you can play one of their games inside another game, something recursive is going on.
