PopCap, Bungie Donate To Haitian Relief Efforts

When you think of the horrific devastation and loss that the Haitians have suffered since a 7.0 earthquake struck the small island nation, gaming probably isn't foremost in your mind. Still, game companies are helping out in different ways, but they need help from gamers to do the most good.
PopCap Games has announced that today only (Saturday, January 16), all proceeds from the games bought through their website will be going to Partners in Health and their efforts to help earthquake victims in Haiti. It's a generous move, and hopefully gamers will take them up on their offer and splurge a little on these casual games. If you're looking for suggestions, try Plants vs. Zombies, which made our shortlist for best PC game of the year, or you could go with a classic like Peggle or Peggle Nights. Many games are available to try first on the web, but don't spend too long deciding. Note that the offer only applies to games bought through PopCap's website: the Steam and other digital download versions, as well as iPhone games, will not contribute to the relief fund.
Bungie is offering a special edition T-Shirt featuring the Superintendent from Halo 3: ODST, but buying any Bungie product from their store will help, as all profits from their online store until the end of February will go to the American Red Cross. They also announced that next Wednesday and Thursday, they will donate $100 for every 1000 people playing online using the special "heart emblem" in Halo 3 or Halo 3: ODST, up to $77,000. Instructions for applying the emblem to your character are at the link below. If you've got either of those games but haven't been online in a while, it might be a good time to just pop in for a game or two, even if you've got to turn off your headset. Who knows: considering the cause, maybe you'll end up playing with a classier group of folks.

RPGNow.com is also matching donation done through their website to Haiti (given to Doctors Without Borders). It's not video games but I figured that most people here would have played Pen & Paper RPGs at some point. :)
