Video: Global Agenda Trailer
It's hard to believe that a MMO game self-classified as a Sci-Spy third person shooter flew underneath my radar for this long, but apparently Global Agenda has done just that, until now. I have to admit, that from the trailer above, the game has definitely caught my attention and fancy, and a good thing to, because time is running short. This clever third person shooter MMO game from Hi-Rez Studios is due out on Feb. 1st on the PC and is already in beta testing conditions. If you pre-order the game right now, you can hop into the beta test and try out all the action for the upcoming weeks until the game launches.
The game itself takes place in the 22nd century where Earth is desolate and land is scarce. Due to land scarcity and the new reforming technology, as newly habitable land is created, there are large battles over the colonization of the area. That's where the gameplay battling comes into play. At the same time the universe has some secret agent aspects to it, hence why they consider the game to be Sci-Spy.
As far as gameplay goes, it seems to be your standard third person shooter, with a great deal of the emphasis placed upon PvP action in the game. Players can form "agency" groups which can then form even larger "alliances" that can war against each other for bragging rights, land, and other bounty. At the same time, the game also features some PvE missions that players can play to help advance their characters without having to deal with other characters cramping their style. The game itself offers four class archetypes to play with, each with their own skill set and tactics. Those classes are: assault, medic, recon, and robotics.
Global Agenda seems to be trying out a new type of payment system when it comes to MMOs. Apparently players can pay for the cost of the game up front and gain access to most parts of the game (PvE, PvP) without having to pay a monthly fee to play the game. Those that wish to participate in the Alliance versus Alliance battles can pay a monthly fee for that content that also allows them to take advantage of the Conquest system linked to land battles.
Overall, Global Agenda looks to be well on its way to launching next month, and I'm excited to see a game of this type doing well and thriving in the current economy, since it shows there is room for creative and new MMO franchises to make their way to the retail space. Feel free to check out the game's main site for more info on the game and any announcements they might have of an open beta in the upcoming weeks leading up tot he game's launch.
