Next week sees the release of
Glory of Heracles in North America, but not many outside of Japan may know that this is actually the fifth game in the long running RPG series. With roots dating back to the Famicom (that's "NES" for most people), the series takes a fairly unique look at Greek mythology through some familiar and not so familiar role playing tropes that should excite JRPG fans looking for their next fix. While it was announced at E3 last year, Nintendo has been pretty quiet about this release. So quiet in fact that I nearly forgot about this game until I ran across this video showing off a battle between the player and a kraken. I'm really digging the visual style seen here, the music sounds good, and it looks like the turned-based battle system will be as welcoming to old schoolers and new fans alike.
Glory of Heracles hits stores shelves next week on January 18th in North America.
Sidenote: Is it just me or has the DS become THE platform for oddball JRPGs like this all of a sudden?
