Video: Zero Punctuation On Bayonetta
Already out all around the world and having received a wide range of reviews, Bayonetta seems to be a game that everyone has an opinion on right now. I've seen articles ranging from how horribly campy and repetitive the "God of War clone" is, to perfect reviews from Famitsu. We even had our own Mixvio give his two cents on the game after playing through the game and all the high-heeled campy bounty it has to offer. All in all, it seems like most people have something to say about the game, which usually makes it hard to me to make a decision.
One source, however, that the cynic in me always likes to consult at these times is Zero Punctuation over at The Escapist since Yahtzee's dry-wit and keen insight always allow me to truly see a game's flaws, and see if I can accept them before I make my monetary decision. With Bayonetta, he delivers as usual. While he does have a number of good things to say about the game, especially in comparison to Darksiders and Devil May Cry, I can't help but chuckle when he discusses the over sexualized nature of the game, as well as the rather strange storyline of the game.
While I'm sure many GayGamer's will probably be more impressed with the moves of her hair and her battle fashion accessories than the long legs and large breasts of Bayonetta's heroine, it's nice to know that even guys like Yahtzee sometimes worry about whether other guys out there that see this sexuality as more of a turn-on than campy comedy. In the end, Zero Punctuation delivers a funny review along with insightful commentary, which I'm glad to see is still a staple on the weekly reviews (haven't watched Zero Punctuation in a while). Enjoy and be sure to check out last week's Darksiders review if you want to compare.

I have to agree with a bit of what he's going on about. I got this for my birthday and finally cracked it open the other night to give it a go.
I felt as if the story just went on and on about stuff that was just nonsense. I just waited and waited to play the game. Finally i got to play and boop more cut scene and loading. Plus i could see the screen tear at the top of my TV (PS3 + LG running 1080p)it was kind of annoying but apparently some of the corners SEGA cut in the port from what i read.
I can see where he's coming from from the oversexualisation point of view. It's what completely put me off the game.
Also the fact that Bayonetta looks like Sarah Palin, a woman who would probably shoot me sooner then look at me.
I liked his review, cause it made me chuckle...but I actually enjoyed the game immensely. I was disappointed, for him and those who might see the review and not read up on it, that he seemed to hit on the load times...which really weren't much of a problem in the 360 version =\
Ah well...still a giggle to watch the review =O
I'm convinced that Bayonetta is really a man. Seriously, have you seen her walk?
Her oversexualization makes more sense if you think of her as a drag queen.
I must be the only person on the planet that thinks Yahtzee is completely and totally unfunny. Frankly he strikes me as a condescending a**hole.
Hilariously clever rant but...
review but freak what ya heard, the game is faboo.
@Shin Gallon: Nope, in the same boat as you.
What annoyed me about this review is that Yahtzee bashes the load times, a PS3-specific issue, yet he's slapping the 360 box around. It's not a fanboy thing, Bayonetta runs just fine on the 360, unlike every video I've seen of the PS3 version.
Yeah i've felt like the PS3 doesn't make the best use of Ram or there clearly isn't enough for such a powerful system. example: waiting for the cross bar to come up is awful.
Tonight Jan 29 1:13AM central I put Bayonetta in and i got an update. I'm crossing my fingers.
This was hilarious! And I agree with most everything he said.
Oh, and the loading times are much much more acceptable now. I was actually getting used to the long load times, though. Lol.
Yahtzee bashes, Yahtzee gets paid. His style isnt so much about hating this or that, it seems much more like hating everything equally. His comics specify as to the questions of 'why'.
I was stoked today during my morning article reads to see todays Zero Punctuation. He seemed to follow a shared worry that the game was only sold for the tits and ass. He certainly is consistant in not adoring a game because his man parts might be the only part enjoying themselves. Its suprising how much he did praise the game. He played it enough to follow what story he got, and on top of that toss some of it into the comic. Without entirely beheading it.
He seemed to enjoy the game mechanics well enough as he went on about earning them without saying it was a complete waste of brain capacity.
In short, and with punctuation...
He liked it.
