Diablo 3's Female Monk

Robyn! In armor!

When Blizzard released information on the Monk character class for Diablo 3, what was missing was his female counterpart. News about the game has been slow of late, with not much new being stated or leaked, but we do finally have official screenshots of the female monk, pictured right.

She's perhaps more armored than one might imagine a monk to be, but if you go to the official Diablo 3 website for the monk class, you'll see a better, animated version of her base model.

For the wizard, the opposite was true, and we waited some time before seeing the male build, so it's interesting how different these two models look. I, for one, am glad she isn't in rags that leave little to the imagination, and that she isn't showing skin in every which direction. Perhaps I'm Bayonetta'd out.

Also of note is that she further pushes the point Leonard Boyarsky has stated of the monk class being a conglomeration of Eastern and Western ideas of what makes a monk, as her model is not in the least bit Eastern. That's why we have the female wizard, though.

That or Blizzard knows what a woman looks like in real life: not naked. Guess we know they're not single anymore.

And i don't know, she kinda looks eastern. Like she died her hair blond or somethin'... But then that's just me. Can't even tell a Canadian to an American.

Wait, a female videogame character that actually wears clothing and armor that's appropriate and practical rather than slutty, revealing, and leaving lots of areas vulnerable to attack? What is this world coming to?

gotta say, I prefer this to the male Monk build. here's hoping that you can change up some of the character designs in game, as hobo-Monk is NOT doing it for me.

otherwise, guess I'll just use the female model.

Has anybody else noticed that with the exception of the wizard, the female version appears to be around 10-15 years younger than the male version? Maybe even more in the witch doctor's case.

I agree with you all that I like this version, perhaps better than the male build.

Scott, yeah, I've noticed it in particular with the barb and witch doctor, though it seems to be of equal footing in the case of the wizard. Will be curious how they present the fifth. Of course, I'm nervous with the witch doctor in general; another black protagonist in videogames connected to voodoo? They make up a majority in that factor. :-/
