Launching A Super Monkey Ball
Nintendo had a big party Saturday afternoon at their Nintendo World Store in NYC's Rockefeller Center to promote the release of the new Super Monkey Ball: Step & Roll on the Wii, so I simply had to swing by and check it out. If you'd like to think it was so that I could report back on the shenanigans and the game for all of you guys, go right ahead and believe that. But honestly, I just wanted to get my photo taken with AiAi!
There were hourly competitions to see who could get the highest score, and there were free Chiquita bananas to keep your energy up. Handed out by Miss Chiquita Banana herself, as an extra bonus. (She even took a turn playing the game herself!) Upstairs, there were a few kiosks playing Super Monkey Ball: Step & Roll, but if you weren't in the competition you had to wait in line downstairs for a chance at one of the two stations actually using the Balance Board. And if you thought controlling a Monkey Ball by tilting your Wiimote was difficult, wait until you try using the Balance Board! I'm not the most coordinated guy out there, and I have trouble with the Wii Fit mini-games that rely primarily on good balance, so I was really bad at Step & Roll. Although to be fair, I wasn't much better with the normal control schemes in the other Super Monkey Ball games I've played! Steering the ball by shifting your weight around takes some getting used to, but the Balance Board seems much more fun when playing one of the 21 mini-games included. Stuff like pinball and swinging for the stars... weird little things like that, made cuter for having adorable monkeys in them.
I don't know if the game is actually any good, as I only got to play a couple levels of the regular game, and only watched others play the mini-games. Like I said, I just wanted to get my picture taken with a giant monkey!

Aww man I wish I knew all about it, I totally woulda came there.
And hopefully get a pic with you xD
I bet that was a blast.. nothing beats free bananas and Super Monkey Ball!
