X10: Alan Wake
Alan Wake has been on the top of my most anticipated games list since I saw it in a closed room demo at last year's E3. The game, with its Twin Peaks like North West setting is being billed as a psychological thriller and includes both shooter and survival horror type trappings.
The plot concerns the titular Alan Wake, a novelist who comes to the city of Bright Falls, WA to try and escape a case of writer's block. Once there, his wife is kidnapped and he begins to unravel the mystery of her disappearance through found pages of a manuscript that he apparently wrote but doesn't remember. Along the way he must fight a variety of ghostly opponents to discover the answer to all his (and the player's) questions.
Alan Wake is being developed by Remedy, creators of Max Payne. I must say for a game that has been in development for so long, it looks absolutely fantastic. The graphics are beautiful and I would compare the outside scenes to the quality of Uncharted.
The project seems to be coming along quite nicely, but more than that I can not say as hands on impressions (yes, I got to play it!) are embargoed until the end of the week. So be sure to be on the lookout for that. Alan Wake is launching on May 18 in North america and May 21 in Europe. There will be a pre-order bonus of some avatar gear, a premium theme and a making of video. A Collector's Edition will also be available.

Now, this isnt really the type of game I play, I'm a WoW girly, but holy crap, what astonishingly beautiful scenery. I Would love to have a nice long weekend there with a significant other ;)
