Nintendownloads - 3/8/10
The Nintendo downloads seem to be on an upturn, with last week bringing the stellar Mega Man 10 and this week offering even more high quality games you won't find in stores. This week's sole virtual console game is the fan favorite SNES RPG Final Fantasy II, though better known to series chronologists as Final Fantasy IV. The release of the original should go nicely with the WiiWare semi-sequel Final Fantasy IV: The After Years. WiiWare finally sees the release of Max and the Magic Marker, an inventive physics-based puzzle platformer where you draw the level. Also on WiiWare is Dracula - Undead Awakening, a port of the popular iPhone dual-stick shooter.
The DSi shop also gets it's own version of Dracula - Undead Awakening, though for half the price of the WiiWare version (and still more than the iPhone version). If vampire slaying isn't your thing then there is also Elemental Masters, a fantasy trading card game for the handheld. Or if games aren't what you want on your DSi, there's always the edutainment title 4 Travelers - Play Spanish, or the digital picture book Flips: The Bubonic Builders.
As a free bonus this week, Nintendo is updating the Flipnote Studio page with some new animations. At last September's PAX event Nintendo asked comic artists like Eric Jones, Christina Strain, and Mike Choi to try their hand at Flipnote Studio, and now half a year later they are finally letting us see those creations. Better late than never I suppose.
