Classic Controllers Go Pro Today

Previously only available in Japan, Nintendo has finally brought the Classic Controller Pro over to American shores starting today. It is available in black or white for $19.99, and features two rows of shoulder buttons with ergonomic grips. You can also get it with Monster Hunter Tri, which also dropped today, in a special bundle for $59.99.
I have to admit that this certainly looks like a step up from my old Classic Controller, what with the extra shoulder buttons and the grips, but why does it still need to plug into the Wiimote? Come on, Nintendo make a standalone! I hate having to lay the Wiimote in my lap so I can play classic games with the Classic Controller! It's irritating!

As someone who has been a gamer for a few years, I have to say that I'm more accustomed to classic style controllers, and I use them whenever I can. These controllers look like a fairly good option, but I do agree that having to connect them to the Wiimote is a bit disappointing.

Only in Japan? Oh, so I've not been using it here in the UK for the past 4 months!?!?
I must be going mad!!! :P
In Tri you still need the Wii-mote to point and click a few things.. so the plug in functionality (yeah call it a feature and it sounds better take that marketing geeks!) is still viable.
It an improvement to say the least. I have agree on the fact that they should just make it stand alone. but well get their in time. I hope.
