Mega Man 10 DLC Lets You Avoid Spikes Forever
After months of anticipation, the final piece of the Mega Man 10 puzzle is falling into place this week. While the downloadable title's release was spread out over a month--with XBox 360 owners finally being the last to get it on March 31--the DLC is releasing in a much tighter spread. This three pack appeared on WiiWare Monday, followed by the XBLA and PSN releases today and tomorrow, respectively.
Unlike the first wave of DLC, this offering enhances the Meganess of your Man with two new powers and an extra game mode. Two Special Stages are unlocked, with the last of Dr. Wily's special Killer robots reigning silently from rooms at the end: Punk, with his spinning spikiness, and Ballade, who fires hovering bombs. These powers balance out the that of the first Killer, Enker, so if you download all three Special Stages you'll find they each have a weakness.
Finally, Endless Mode is making its glorious return from Mega Man 9 for those gamers who wish the brutally-difficult stages in these games never had to cap off with a boss fight and a return to the menu. This mode is exactly what it sounds like: a never-ending string of screens, using platforms and enemies taken from the various stages in the game, which goes until you run out of life or the sun explodes. A ticker lets you know how far you've gotten, and a leaderboard will keep the competitive coming back for more.
This is the last of the DLC that's been announced for Mega Man 10 so far. Will we be seeing any more? Capcom hasn't put out any word, but personally I'm still hoping to unlock a character cross-up between this and Bionic Commando: Re-Armed 2.
Press release is after the jump! If you're curious what these stages look and play like, The MegaMan Network has compiled some handy videos.
