Nintendo Vindicated In Patent Lawsuit

Today was a good day for Nintendo, as the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit ruled that none of their game controllers infringe on a patent asserted by Anascape, Ltd. Nintendo had been accused of infringing on U.S. Patent No. 6,906,700, and the case was tried before a jury in the Eastern District of Texas in May of 2008. The jury found that the Wiimote and Nunchuck didn't infringe on the patent, but the Classic Controller for the Wii and the WaveBird and standard controllers for the GameCube did. However, today's decision reversed that finding.
"In 2008, the jury determined that the Wii Remote and Nunchuk did not infringe," said Nintendo of America General Counsel Rick Flamm. "Today the Federal Circuit's ruling confirmed that none of Nintendo's controllers infringe. We appreciate that our position has been vindicated."
Anascape also sued Microsoft for the same patent infringement in May, 2008, however they settled their case at the time. Guess Nintendo isn't the type to go down without a fight!

Huzzah!
I always enjoy friendly companies winning lawsuits the same I enjoy seeing faceless companies losing lawsuits.
It's good to see a patent troll get its butt handed to 'em!
Oh crap, does this mean we might see GCN controllers for sale again in North America?! :D
