Video: Gears Of War 3 Trailer
Last night Cliff Bleszkinski appeared on Jimmy Fallon to talk up the third installment of the Gears of War series. With it came the trailer you see above.
What do we see in this trailer (a warning that if you don't want spoilers of any sort, don't read beyond this paragraph)? The usual slow-paced song that is incongruous with the action happening on camera (first we had Gary Jules's cover of Tears of Fears' "Mad World", then DeVotchKa's "How it Ends," and now Sun Kil Moon's "Heron Blue"). We see some new Gears, with Marcus stepping in to save one falling.
After Marcus's appearance, come the familiar Gears faces to whom we are accustomed. And what was that? A female Gear? If there's more than one female Gear in this game, I hope it does not follow the comics' line of explanation for Alex and have every one be an infertile woman. Really, though, female Gears is awesome.
Oh! There also appears to be a new type of Scourge we are seeing. Slender. More akin to a praying mantis or other stick-like bug than the beetles I seem to be expecting. Well then.
Bleszinski stated last night that the game would probably release April 8, 2011, though according to Microsoft, it will release in North America April 5, Japan on April 7, and Europe April 8. Now to see what pre-order goodies come with it. Out of curiosity, for how many people will this be a must-buy?

Let me activate my crystal ball in relation to the female character:
1) She WILL be topless / In a "love" scene / Naked at some point.
2) She will either be a replacement for Dom or be interested in Marcus.
3) She wont have the decency not to play to the female videogame sterotype.
4)She will be played by Katee Sackhoff.
It was a must buy till I seen this trailer.
Maybe.
I just felt robbed at the end of GoW and GoW2. Terrible endings.

I loved the first two games. I am awful at them, but this is a must buy for me. It also seems like the the multiplayer community for Gears is a lot nicer than other FPS's on 360.
