Video: Xiu Xiu "This Too Shall Pass Away (For Freddy)"

For the newest video off their record Dear God I Hate Myself, mope core rockers Xiu Xiu take a look at the darker side of 8-bit. You've got Cylons (or whatever) attacking some Sims-like characters, fornicating Tetris pieces, and possibly most terrifying of all, a cat with a Game Boy. The clip, directed by C. Spencer Yeh, is basically what would happen if the 80's era LucasArts went off its lithium for a little while.

The song itself is relatively upbeat for the act, even if it does start out talking about self mutilation. At least you can kind of dance to it! Dear God I Hate Myself is out now on Kill Rock Stars, and Xiu Xiu are wrapping up a North American tour this month before heading out to Europe.

Technically he's an out bisexual, but I was pretty sure his queerness would be obvious to anyone who listened to the song.
