Whoopsies!: Gears Of War 3 Announced By Mistake?

Good news, everyone! It appears as though Epic Games is totally surprising all of us with the announcement of Gears of War 3. I know, I can't believe it either! I mean it's not as if the last game in the series was super popular, ended with some cliffhanger, and the developer themselves have pretty much already talked about it in interviews, right?
Hold on... let me turn the sarcasm down a little bit.
Kotaku is reporting that some keen eyes spotted news of the announcement on the Xbox 360 dashboard last night and at least one of them was nice enough to take a quick snapshot of it. As you can see, Epic Games is aiming for an April 2011 release date making the official wait time for the anticipated title just over a year.
The series' designer Cliff Bleszinski (you know, that guy that most people still call Cliffy B?) was supposed to go on the Jimmy Fallon Show a few days ago to announce the title officially and show off a trailer for the game, but unfortunate scheduling conflicts got in the way and Mr. Bleszinski was bumped. Kotaku theorizes that bit of info wasn't passed onto the Xbox 360's ad team, but I'm thinking that someone behind the scenes just said, "Forget this! Everyone knows what we were going to announce. Just run it!" Either way, the cats out of the bag now and the wait more info has begun.
