Limbo May Not Be So Exclusive Anymore, According To ESRB [Update]

Have you, like most of us here at the GayGamer castle, fallen in love with the shadowy indie puzzle/platformer Limbo? Do you happen to not own an Xbox 360, and thought you were going to miss out? Well fear no more (unless you only own a Wii), as the ESRB is now listing Limbo for a PS3 and PC release. This comes as a bit of a surprise considering that the last time we got our hands on Limbo was at PAX East inside Microsoft's own booth.

In case you have been ignoring any news about Limbo because you don't own a 360,
allow me to give you a brief refresher. Limbo tells the tale of a boy trapped in the titular realm, a shadowy forest of a place filled with constant hidden danger. The game is beautiful to be sure, but for me the most appealing parts were the puzzles scattered throughout the levels, hidden in plain sight due to Limbo's shadowy aesthetic. Not to mention how striking it was that I have never seen a game feature so many ways to decapitate a small child, whether by bear trap, spider creature, or some other means hidden in the purely black and white scenery. Though, as the game's developer was quick to point out, Limbo is a place for those who are already dead, so death in the game takes on a different connotation.

For more, check out VorpalBunny's excellent preview of Limbo based on his playtime at PAX East. Limbo is still set for a release later this summer, so be on the lookout for it in the not so distant future on your non-Wii system of choice.

Update: It looks like the ESRB was being fed bad information somewhere along the line, because Playdead's Dino Patti has corrected their mistake saying, "We are only launching the title on XBLA. You won't see a PS3 or PC version this time around, sorry." At least he apologized for someone else's mistake.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
