Mafia II Gets The Collector's Treatment
When Mafia II hits stores in North America on August 24, it won't be alone. 2K Games has just announced that a Collector's Edition will be shipping alongside the standard edition for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. There's also various pre-order incentives, even for the standard edition.
"The first Mafia title was a critical success, and we are excited to deliver an epic sequel to fans of the game and of Mafia entertainment," said Christoph Hartmann, president, 2K. "By offering a Collector's Edition, special pre-order incentives and downloadable content for Mafia II, we are able to show our appreciation for those guys wise enough to reserve their copies early."
The Collectors Edition of Mafia II will include the game as well as collectible Steel Book casing, the Made Man Pack (free access to in-game downloadable pack of two new cars and two new suits), a 100-page hardcover art book, the CD soundtrack, and a high-quality map of the 10 square miles of Empire Bay.
And if you're in the mood to pre-order, various retail outlets will earn you different incentives. GameStop is offering the Vegas Pack (two cars and two suits with a taste of Vegas) or the War Hero Pack (two military-style vehicles and two military outfits). Amazon has the Renegade Pack (two cars with a '50s hot rod feel and leather and letterman jackets), while Best Buy has the Greaser Pack (two speedy hot rods and a leather jacket/boots and racing suit) If you pre-order at Wal-Mart.com, though, all you'll get is a $10 Wal-Mart e-gift card. No DLC. Please note, while this is for North America, 2K Games has reported that the DLC packs will be available at select international retailers, so look around.
