Mega Man Online Confirmed By Capcom Financials

What's next for the blue bomber after the successful return to form in Mega man 9 and Mega Man 10? How about an MMO? No, I'm not joking, because according to Capcom's recent financial projection report, Mega Man Online is a real thing that is happening, and a key component of Capcom's strategy.

Mega Man Online is being developed in collaboration with Neowiz Games of Korea, and is part of Capcom's plan to expand operations to more Asian territories outside of Japan. Neowiz Games has experience with large scale online games and MMOs including Battlefield Online.

It is rumored that Mega Man Online is connected to the recent Capcom trademark filing for the name "Mega Man Universe." The thing I'm most curious about is which Mega Man setting they plan to use. I'm just hoping its classic Mega Man, Mega Man X, or Mega Man Legends and not based on the Mega Man Battle Network games. Would you be on-board with a Mega Man themed MMO? Considering that Mega Man Online was listed among financial plans for the current fiscal year, ending March 2011, expect a lot more news of Mega Man Online in the coming months.

I personally think that using the Battle Network world would be a cool idea. I always loved the *idea* of the games; having a Navi as your online avatar that can also battle & explore the net. If they could combine both the online & offline worlds, that would be ace.

However, the games were shit. but that does not detract from the *idea* of battle network.

Careful, that's an image of Mega Man 8-bit Deathmatch which has nothing to do with Capcom

There's helpful scroll-over text (hover your mouse cursor over the image) on the image stating that it is a Doom mod, and not actually Mega Man Online, so hopefully nobody was confused by that.
