Nintendownloads - 5/10/10
The DSi takes the spotlight with this week's Nintendo downloads. Photo Dojo, the DSi fighting game that lets you create up to 8 fighters based on you and your friends with the DSi's camera, has finally come home. Play solo or against a friend with both of you sharing the same DSi system to battle. Best of all, Photo Dojo is free through June 10, so be sure to download it before the price bumps up to 200 Nintendo points on June 11.
So now that you've downloaded a free game, what can you spend those precious Nintendo points on this week? Continuing with the DSi theme, the classic action/platformer Earthworm Jim gets a makeover on the DSi with cleaned up graphics, smooth animation, and bonuses earned for mimicking Jim's expressions using the DSi camera. For a more cerebral experience there's Chess Challenge! which has both beginner options to teach you the perfect chess strategy as well as expert options to offer more of a challenge. The final DSiWare title is the interactive picture book Flips: The Enchanted Wood. And let's not forget another free DLC Warioware D.I.Y. microgame download brought to you by Jason Schreiber who worked on the fabulous DSiWare title Glow Artisan.
For Wii owners, two new games hit the WiiWare service. Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations brings the third game of the over-the-top court drama to the Wii, and is a must-play for gamers who missed the series on the DS. Though keep in mind that Trials and Tribulations continues the story from the previous two games, so I wouldn't recommend it as a jumping in point for the series. The other WiiWare game this week is Chess Challenge! which, like it's DSi version, offers both beginner and expert options as well as full online multiplayer support. Unfortunately, there are no Virtual Console games to be had for the second week in a row, which is pretty bad when there are still so many classics missing from the service. Maybe Nintendo figures that we're still making our way through Ogre Battle 64 anyway.
