Video: Ace Team's Rock Of Ages

Ace Team, the developers behind Zeno Clash, are once again teaming up with Atlus, who helped publish their last title for XBLA, It was hard not to notice this game at E3, since all of our badges had it squirreled behind the piece of paper that held our names and outlet. The above video reminds me of Monty Python in its irreverence and humor, coupled alongside the visual aesthetic.

The goal is to roll your smiling boulder at your enemy, who has set up strategic ways to block you. As the little blurb below the YouTube video states:

Two castles stand opposed, bridged by an uneven, narrow pathway. One is yours, and you're quite fond of it. See how the parapets catch the sunlight ever so stylishly? The other is your enemy's; they're a jerk, and their crappy crenellations are driving down your property values. Also, their castle sucks, justification enough to try crush it using an enormous rolling stone. Unfortunately, they'll have a chance to plan and build up some security, doing everything they can to derail your razing rock. Get through their defenses and you're one step closer to crushing their unsightly tower (see also: their hopes and dreams). But don't take your turn for granite. Once your turn is over, your opponent's begins...

The backgrounds through which you are rolling are all inspired by classical art, hence the 'ages' part of the title: Rococo, Renaissance, and Gothic being put on display above. Also of note is that the opponent can be a live person, so two-player is supported.

Scheduled for a 2011 release date through digital distribution (theoretically PSN, XBLA, and maybe PC?), this is one title and development team on whom I'll keep my eye.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
