Nintendownloads - 6/7/10

Nintendo, may I have a word with you? What's going on with the lack of virtual console games? Since the beginning of April only five virtual console games have been released. That's five in two and a half months. With some of the best games from the 8, 16, and 64-bit generations still not available, it is becoming increasingly hard to stomach Nintendo's recent abysmal treatment of its back catalog. With the virtual console Nintendo has access to nine classic consoles and hundreds of games, leaving no excuse whatsoever for ever having a week without a new release. But even Nintendo's library alone is incomplete. Where are Star Fox, Pilotwings 64, Mario Paint, Uniracers, Tetris Attack, Mischief Makers, Donkey Kong 64, not to mention Earthbound? Hopefully some good news for the virtual console will come along with next week's E3 announcements.
But you're probably more interested in what actually was released today rather than my ranting and raving about what wasn't. The WiiWare catalog expands by three more animal-themed games this week with Reel Fishing Challenge II, Lead the Meerkats, and Zoo Disc Golf. Meanwhile, hendheld gamers can download to their DSi new games Flametail, Don't Cross the Line, Fire Panic, and Flips: The Magic Faraway Tree. And WarioWare fans can also download the new WarioWare D.I.Y. microgame "Power Surge" for free this week, created by Nintendo Power staffer Chris Hoffman.
Check after the jump for the full description of each of this week's Nintendo download games.

Flametail
Publisher: Nintendo
Players: 1
ESRB Rating: E (Everyone)
Price: 500 Nintendo DSi Points
Description: The year is 2099, and the solar system is littered with space junk. Our best hope for a tidier cosmos is to send the Flametail incinerator pod from planet to planet for a little fiery cleanup. Take control of the Flametail pod and start winding your way through obstacles, then watch as your flaming tail ignites blocks of troublesome debris and eventually eliminates them. Be careful not to work yourself into a dead end, and don't let the hazard line that follows you catch up to your tail or reach any leftover garbage. Luckily, you can find useful items (such as bombs or score multipliers) along your path and earn special power-ups (like radar or a missile) by collecting letter panels to spell particular words. Effectively burn up the floating garbage in the game's two modes - Space Tour and Time Limit - and earn new graphics and other surprises as you progress. The straightforward controls make it possible for anyone to take on the job of restoring space to pristine condition. Do you have what it takes to make your way to the outer reaches of the solar system?Don't Cross The Line

Was I the only one who thought 'Compare the MEERket.com' when seeing this? xD
God dammit, more crap for the VC. They release Kirby Super Star and suddenly we get nothing? I guess that's how it goes when you finally get a good game; You experience a drought for weeks on end.

I saw Pilotwings 64 in bold and nearly crapped myself. Then I actually read the whole paragraph and realized you were only saying that Pilotwings HASN'T been released. Now I am sad. :(
As far as EarthBound, didn't they say they were worried about legal issues because of the pop culture references in the game? Kind of silly, but I don't have any hope of ever seeing EarthBound, unfortunately.
you knowwwwwww
putting both the games that are out and the games you WISH are out in bold are confusing for those of us who scan for the day's released game titles in bold.
This isn't the first time I've thought "EARTHBOU- oh."
I'm sorry about the confusion everyone. It's customary on GayGamer.net to put all game titles in bold across all articles, so I just instinctively hit bold for them like I do all games.
Also, I should probably clarify that from the games I listed, Tetris Attack actually is available on the virtual console...in Japan.
