The Fourth of July may be behind us, but Nintendo wants to keep celebrating with the release of Pearl Harbor Trilogy - 1941: Red Sun Rising. Because nothing is more patriotic than playing as the Japanese during the attack on Pearl Harbor (don't worry, you can play as the US too). Then again, the Wii could always use more solid flight combat games, so it's hard to complain with this being the first part in a promised trilogy of games. Also on WiiWare this week is Cruise Party, a slightly different view of the high seas compared to Pearl Harbor, which is instead more about gambling in cruise ship casinos for up to four players. No new virtual console games were released, again, which could be Nintendo's way of declaring independence from their past? Whatever Nintendo's excuse is, it's not good enough.
On the DSi side of things Nintendo seems to have an endless supply of support with six titles for your downloading pleasure. Soul of Darkness is a very solid looking Castlevania clone from the mobile developers at Gameloft. Steamworld Tower Defense offers its own take on strategy gaming with you using robots to protect the wild west from pesky humans. QuickPick Farmer will have you shearing sheep in time before a wolf can get to them. Hello Flowerz is a gardening game for a more relaxing pace on the go. 101 Shark Pets tasks you with raising sharks as pets, I'll let you guess how many there are in the game. And for the final DSiWare title, Flips: The Folk of the Faraway Tree offers yet another entry in EA's unique handheld picture book series.
