Video: The Last Story Trailer Shows First Gameplay Footage
Mistwalker and Hironobu Sakaguchi has been working away at upcoming Wii RPG The Last Story for quite a long time now, and thus far all we've had to go on were scant details and concept art. Thankfully, Mistwalker unveiled the first trailer for The Last Story today, and the results are not quite what you may have been expecting from the father of Final Fantasy, Blue Dragon, and Lost Odyssey.
Not only is this first trailer filled with actual gameplay footage, but it shows off a new, real-time battle system including targeting multiple enemies for attacks and a full cover system. Non-combat gameplay also shows off some of the towns in the game, which look to have more in common with the bustling, living cities of Assassin's Creed than the normally static towns that populate RPGs. And that's not to mention the visuals, which have an impressive style of their own without using a qualifier like "for a Wii game." Between The Last Story, Xenoblade, and Arc Rise Fantasia, being a Wii owning RPG gamer looks like it's going to get a whole lot sweeter.

Final Fantasy + Shadow of the Colossus = these graphics?
It does look pretty, but since my PS3 games have spoiled me, I do have to say pretty *for the Wii.*
I'm surprised with architecture designs in this game, they look way more realistic than the classic JRPG. It does look epic!
All I could think of while watching it was 'too grey' :U
What happened to colours? Bit too monochrome(ish) for me :/
Just my first and strongest impression. Sadly.
Also, looked a bit too much like something resembling Devil May Cry franchise and its lookalikes which I've quite had enough of.
