Demand Phantasy Star Universe

cboxphantasyStarUniverse.jpg

I know there's a lot of Phantasy Star fans out there, so those of you with Xbox 360s might be interested to know that Phantasy Star Universe is now available on Xbox LIVE Games On Demand. There's plenty to do, too, because they just released the Guardians Advance Content update for SEGA's action-MMO, and the Ambition of the Illuminus add-on is now free for all PSU players. Phantasy Star Universe is going for $19.99, and offline single-player is free, but if you want to go online and play with up to five friends at a time, you're gonna have to pay up.

UPDATE: The press release didn't mention this, but upon a fifth glance, it may just be worded funny. According to the Xbox LIVE webpage description of Phantasy Star Universe, a Guardian License (read: monthly fee) is required for online play. (As is the free expansion pack, but that's free, so whatever) So it would seem what you actually don't need to play online is the Gold membership. Sorry.

There is no monthly fee on the 360 version of this game? Just Xbox Live Membership? It's a good deal then.

That is indeed. I'll need to make sure I renew my Live subscription soon, then.

Sorry but I did some research online and everything indicates that if you want to play this game online you have to pay a monthly fee to Sega, Can anyone confirm this? Thanks!

I remember when this was released for the PS2; a friend and I tried it out and were massively disappointed. As it turns out the online portion was missing roughly 33% of the content that was promised at launch.

Hopefully Sega has gotten their act together since then, and provided that content (and then some).

Unless it changed, both original PSO (even now because Blue Burst is still open) and PSU always wanted a Guardian License.

I should know, I bought the PC version of the game and Ambition and the Euro version for X360 later (because it's among the many games that lack region coding for 360 and I was in Europe at the time).

The PC version I was obviously burned on (as some of you might know about with the shutdown of the servers) and the X360 version? I spent two hours downloading Ambition as DLC only to find out Ambition was ONLINE ONLY AND STILL UNDER THAT DAMN GUARDIAN LICENSE CRAP THAT PSOnline USING!!!!!!!!!!! No offline version of it exist... well... except if you play Phantasy Star Portable (it is a direct sequel to the events of Ambition).

Needless to say, that as a fan who has played PSOnline for Gamecube like I was dating it and plays PSZero for DS (WHICH IS FREE TO PLAY ONLINE), AND has PSPortable and plans to get PSPortable 2 (they are PSP, so they have no online option obviously), you can bet that as someone who has clearly put his money down for these games I was "disappointed" you could say that Sega would try to bend me over like that still.

Sorry, Sega, when it comes to that, I'm definitely a top. I won't even bottom for Nintendo (we're versatile and very happy together). Maybe I'll forgive you if Phantasy Star Zero 2 is on 3DS.

Every time I stumble upon a really good blog post I usually do three things:

1.Forward it to my relevant contacts.

2.save it in all my favorite sharing sites.

3.Make sure to come back to the site where I came accross the post.

After reading this article I am seriously thinking of doing all of the above...

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
