Video: Knights In The Nightmare Sliding Onto PSP Screens
Does the concept of possessing your soldiers to activate their attacks onto a strategy-RPG grid sound like a familiar concept? If so, it may be because Atlus has already published Knights in the Nightmare on the DS system, and it looks as quirky and unique now as it was then.
How unique can an SRPG be with 'save the kingdom' for its plot be, you ask? Well, just imagine that instead of simply selecting your units with a cursor, you're navigating a vulnerable Wisp around the battlefield, and rather than attacking your troops, the monsters you face have powerful scattering, sweeping attacks that affect your ability to move this Wisp around. Effectively, the structure of battle has you dodging attacks in a bullet-hell-shmup style while trying to find the safety to charge an ability or use an attack item on one of your class-based soldiers and slay the foes rampaging around. It's one of the most bizarre hybrids in any game recently, which is why it's so surprising to play and discover how well it works.
The DS version of Knights in the Nightmare has been out since last year, and the stylus controls do feel quite natural in the duality of dodging attacks and selecting units. Hopefully, taking control of the Wisp via control pad won't diminish any fidelity, and the new story quest and graphics promised in the PSP version will be well worth the wait. Knights in the Nightmare will be possessing your PSP on October 19.

I love the music but I have a question, is this a remake of the DS version or a new chapter?
It's a direct port of the DS version with enhanced visuals and stylus control replaced with using the PSP nub for analog control. There will be a few new quests in the PSP version also, but the main story should remain the same.
thanks for the answer, I didn't play the first one so I will probably buy this one, looks like the put some kind of anime scenes to explain to story right?
Uh-oh, so many things happening on screen! Character sprites, battle effects, flying numbers, side bars, character portraits + tons of inventory items and endless fusion combinations.... What happened to simplicity? It all reads as clutter to me and makes my head hurt >.
I liked the anime sequences tho :P
The art style looks really cool but the everything else seemed way complicated.
There was way too much going on-screen for me to want to get into it. If anything, its a little intimidating heheh.
