Video: DmC Team Explains The New Dante

When I posted Capcom's screenshots from the new Devil May Cry game, I had no idea that people would react so strongly to Dante's new look in the re-imagining. They either loved it or hated it. Well, PlayStation.Blog's Rey Gutierrez (who should probably consider doing some new Dante cosplay in his future, please) sat down to chat with DmC's lead producer, Alex Jones, and chief creative director Tameem Antoniades about their vision.

Obviously, it's still early days, so there's really not a lot to go on besides the images we've seen. What little game footage they've got is repeated more than a couple times during this segment. But it does seem like they're keeping the general gameplay while just updating the look. And from Antoniades' comment at the end about how "it will fit in with what we know," maybe it's more of a sequel (or prequel!) than a re-imagining. Time will tell!

That interviewer needs a new job.

That irritating guy aside, I'm in the "WTF are you doing" camp on this game. Dante didnt need to look like an under-fed over-tired ultra camp rentboy who recently just shot up on his daily fix of heroine.

Stylistic change is fine but in all honesty they could have just gone the Nero route and not remade a well loved character into this thing. Dante's Long lost half sister friend's child or something would have done. This series didn't need a reboot just better direction.

DMC3 is still the best though. So over the top.

I like the fairly extreme change to the game's look. A reboot is much more approachable for someone new to the series (like me) than a sequel.
