It's been rumored to be true, but now we know for sure. For all those Mortal Kombat fans who've had to sit through weeks of excited and cartoony character reveals for Capcom's Marvel vs Capcom 3, your payback is at hand, and it is sweet indeed. Next month's Official Playstation Magazine will confirm Kratos as a playable character in the upcoming next-gen Mortal Kombat.
As GiantBomb points out, it's hardly a huge leap to imagine the god of war taking his place among the thunder deities and legendary assassins that make up MK's roster, and he likely will fit the dark and merciless tone of this series even better than he did for the PSP Soul Calibur in 2008. The hunky and dangerous Kratos has been a staple in certain editors' diets here around the GayGamer Castle, so the opportunity to brave some blood and guts to get our hands on him is certain to pique some interest!
The announcement of a platform-specific character for a cross-platform title begs some questions, though. Is the publisher, Warner Bros., striking deals solely with Sony? Or should we start speculating on which Xbox icon might make it to the tournament? My money's on either Marcus Fenix or the big-ol-softie Jorge from Halo: Reach.
